The January 18th edition of Charleston's The Post and Courier reports on a dispute over "financial incentives" and how Nexsen Pruet attorney Burnie Maybank was able to help resolve it.

John McDermott's article is entitled "Financial breaks for businesses in spotlight."   He writes "the state learned that the fine print matters when doling out those kind of generous financial incentives. In this case, it was another big Charleston-area employer that begins with a 'B': software maker Blackbaud Inc."

Burnie Maybank is a member of Nexsen Pruet's economic development and banking & finance practice groups.  He was Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue from 1995 to 1999 and 2003 to 2005.

Maybank is chair of the eleven member South Carolina Tax Realignment Commission (TRAC).  TRAC is designed to assess the effectiveness of the state’s tax structure make recommendations to the General Assembly regarding changes.
