"From bench to bar: Former federal chief judge makes tough transition"

South Carolina Lawyers Weekly    November 10, 2009

The November 9th, 2009 edition of South Carolina Lawyers Weekly profiles Billy Wilkins in an article entitled "From bench to bar: Former federal chief judge makes tough transition."

Fred Horlbeck sat down with Wilkins shortly after his one-year anniversary with the firm.  "The pace is pretty furious. Most of my days are 10-hour days. I work a portion of the weekends too,"  said Wilkins.

Since joining Nexsen Pruet in October of 2008, Wilkins has been involved with a number of high-profile matters including "a class-action suit with up to 4 million plaintiffs who sought combined damages of up to $4 billion," "overseeing an environmental cleanup," and playing a "key role in Boeing's decision to open its second 787 jet production line in North Charleston."

Despite the long hours and heavy work load, Wilkins said he is happy with his decision to return to private practice.  "The year has gone very quickly, and I attribute that to, really, the opportunity I've had to be involved in some complex civil litigation from the very beginning."   Click here to read the complete article.
