"Legal practices shift as economy veers"

Columbia Regional Business Report    September 2009

Nexsen Pruet board chairman Leighton Lord is interviewed for an article in the Columbia Regional Business Journal entitled "Legal practices shift as economy veers."

Reporter Mike Fitts looked at how law firms have adapted during the recession.   Lord said "when the economy is in turmoil, our clients need us more."  He added that Nexsen Pruet's creditor rights practice has increased in recent months as parties look to "unwind" deals.

Lord said that since the recession began, there has been an increase in business disputes.  "When deals don't work, somebody's got to be to blame," he told Fitts.
