Columbia    August 18, 2009

Nexsen Pruet's Vickie Eslinger was interviewed on WIS News Sunrise this morning.  The South Carolina Appleseed Legal Justice Center recently named Eslinger the 2009 Advocate of the Year.

WIS anchor Kara Gormley interviewed Eslinger and Sue Berkowitz, director of the SC Appleseed Legal Justice Center.  They discussed how poverty affects women and children disproportionately in the state and how the justice center is working to combat that.  Click here to watch the interview.

Eslinger has a long history of pursuing equal rights for all.  In the 1970s, she filed a lawsuit which ultimately won women the right to serve as pages in the State House.

During her distinguished career, Ms. Eslinger has served a member of the faculty of the Harvard University Law School Intensive Trial Advocacy Course for over 20 years, and has served on the Boards of numerous state and national civic organizations.  The University of South Carolina’s School of Law has recognized her with a Compleat Lawyer Platinum Award.
