"Manufacturing tax raises recruitment concerns" The Greenville News July 18, 2009

Nexsen Pruet economic development attorney Burnie Maybank is quoted in an article in The Greenville News entitled "Manufacturing tax raises recruitment concerns."
The July 18th article examined concerns that South Carolina's property tax rate is hurting recruitment of new industry. The article reports that "South Carolina has the highest effective property tax rate for industrial properties in the country."
Reporter Dolph Bell interviewed Maybank, who has twice served as director of the state Revenue Department. Maybank said the state's property tax rate is "the biggest issue by far in terms of business conditions."
