"Commerce’s budget gets slashed again"

Columbia    Columbia Regional Business Report    June 29, 2009

A June 29th article in the Columbia Regional Business Report entitled "Commerce's budget gets slashed again" quotes Nexsen Pruet attorney Burnie Maybank.

The paper reports that the "S.C. Department of Commerce’s state budget allocation has been cut by more than half at a time when South Carolina has one of the highest unemployment rates in the country."   A major focus of Maybank's law practice is on economic development and told reporter Mike Fitts that the cuts are "horrible."  Maybank added "Clearly, they don’t have the tools they used to."

Mr. Maybank served as Director of the South Carolina Department of Revenue from from 1995 until 1999 and from 2003 until 2005.
