"New sales tax gets solid push"

The Sun News / MyrtleBeachOnline.com    April 12, 2009

Nexsen Pruet attorney Franklin Daniels is quoted in an article from The Sun News entitled "New sales tax gets solid push."  The paper reports that Myrtle Beach leaders are "pitching a new 1-cent sales tax for tourism promotion."

Daniels represents the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce and was asked about transparency when it comes to the chamber spending taxpayer dollars.  He said the chamber is a private entity and is not obligated to follow Freedom of Information Act rules.  But, Daniels says the chamber has "always gone above and beyond what they needed to do."

Daniels legal background includes matters related to general business transactions, economic development and incentives, public finance, non-profit and tax-exempt issues, state and local government taxation, military housing privatization and hotel and convention center projects.
