Leading Attorney and Business Leaders to Discuss Immigration Reform

Myrtle Beach    August 7, 2008

MYRTLE BEACH, SC – From the Presidential Election to Palmetto state politics, immigration is a hot issue right now.   It is especially true in South Carolina thanks to the new South Carolina Illegal Immigration Reform Act.  When Governor Sanford signed it into law on June 4th, employers began facing new employment verification requirements and penalties for noncompliance.   But there are still many questions surrounding the new act.

To help employers understand the new law, the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce and Nexsen Pruett, LLC are hosting a seminar focusing on the latest changes in immigration law, and to answer employer questions.  Reporters who attend will have an opportunity to interview one of the state’s leading immigration attorneys, Melissa Azallion.  Azallion says, “It’s important - now more than ever - that an employer ensures his or her company is in compliance.”  In addition to Ms. Azallion, business leaders will be on hand to discuss steps they are taking to comply and how it is affecting their bottom line.
