Brad Waring Inducted As President Of The South Carolina Bar

Waring FamilyCharleston, SC - Bradish J. (Brad) Waring, a Member in Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, was inducted as president of the South Carolina Bar during ceremonies held at the Bar’s House of Delegates meeting Friday, May 19, 2006.

This position is the latest in a string of Bar positions Waring has held since 1981, including treasurer and, most recently, president-elect. He was also a member of the 11-thousand member organization’s House of Delegates and, as an officer, sits on its Board of Governors.

"Our firm has a long tradition of serving the profession through leadership in the Bar," said Leighton Lord, chairman of the board of Nexsen Pruet. "Brad is the ideal person to continue that tradition. He loves and respects the law, and his skills and dedication are an example to us all."

Waring follows three other Nexsen Pruet attorneys who have served as president of the South Carolina Bar. They are Harold Jacobs, Tom Tisdale and Wilburn Brewer. In addition, Bob Baynes of the firm's Greensboro office has served as president of the North Carolina State Bar.

Brad Waring practices in the firm's business and consumer litigation group. He concentrates his practice primarily on civil litigation in state and federal courts, emphasizing complex commercial litigation including products liability, insurance coverage, and business litigation.

He is listed in Best Lawyers in America for business litigation, and last year he was honored with The Compleat Lawyer Award from the University of South Carolina School of Law. The award recognizes USC law graduates who have made "a significant contribution to the legal profession" and exemplify "the highest standard of professional competence, ethics, and integrity."

Waring is a member of the Charleston Bar, the S.C. Defense Trial Lawyers Association, the Federation of Defense & Corporate Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, the American Bar Association, and the University of South Carolina Law School Partnership Board. He is the former chair of the American Law Firm Association and of the University of South Carolina Law School Alumni Association Board.
