Nexsen Pruet Welcomes International Attorneys to South Carolina

Charleston, S.C. --Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLC hosted a group of international visitors at the 2003 LAWorld conference, held April 23-25 in Charleston, S.C.

The conference, which attracted attorneys from as far away as Hong Kong and Australia, is held annually in a member city. Nexsen Pruet is one of five U.S. firms in the organization, which includes 35 members from 25 countries covering Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, Asia, and the Pacific Rim.

"Despite some of the uncertainties in the world today, we had a terrific turnout," said Val Stieglitz, a Nexsen Pruet attorney. "We were glad we could attract these prestigious law firms to the United States - and to Charleston in particular. It is more important than ever to work together and focus on global issues, and the conference gave us tremendous opportunities to do that."

The three-day conference opened with a special welcome from Charleston Mayor Joe Riley and featured discussions on a variety of international legal topics. Other guest speakers included Will Lacey of the South Carolina Department of Commerce, Andy Howell, General Counsel of Blackbaud and Raulston (Ross) Travis, Director of International Operations for the LPA Group Inc.

LAWorld members also got a brief lesson in South Carolina history. Charleston Sen. Glenn McConnell gave a special presentation on The H.L. Hunley, and then participants toured the new facility that houses the vessel.
