Hardaway Moderates Trade Mark Forum in Munich

Greenville, SC - John Hardaway, an intellectual property attorney with Nexsen Pruet Jacobs & Pollard, LLC, in Greenville, South Carolina, will be the moderator of an educational forum in Munich, Germany, December 3-4, 2001 sponsored by the International Trademark Association regarding Trade Mark enforcement; different rules in different European countries.

Mr. Hardaway, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, received a B.S. degree in Ceramic Engineering from Clemson University and a Master of Science degree from Iowa State University also in Ceramic Engineering. Mr. Hardaway attended law school at Catholic University while also working as an Examiner in the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He received a J.D. degree from the University of Tennessee while employed in the office of Chief Counsel of the Atomic Energy Commission for the handling of patent matters for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Mr. Hardaway's practice of intellectual property law was with government and/or industry until 1980 when he went into private practice. The Hardaway Law Firm, P.A. was started in 1980 and grew to nine IP attorneys before the firm joined Nexsen Pruet in 1999. Mr. Hardaway is a past president of the Patent, Trademark and Copyright Law Association of the Carolinas, and is chairman of the Japanese Patent Office Liaison Council of the U.S. Bar. He is also past chairman of the SC Secretary of State Blue Ribbon Commission on Intellectual Property, and is a member of the Licensing Executive Society, the Regional Law Committee of the International Trademark Association, the SC Attorney Generals Blue Ribbon Commission on Intellectual Property Law, the American Bar Association IPL section, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, and the Federation Internationale des Conseils en Propriete Industrielle. He is also a delegate to the Board of Governors of the South Carolina Bar and has been a delegate with the Citizens Ambassador's Programs on patent and trademark related projects to China, Japan and the former Soviet Union. Mr. Hardaway's many civic activities include Meals On Wheels, St. James Episcopal Church, Rotary International Youth Exchange Chairperson, Children's Hospital of the Greenville Hospital System, and the Greenville YMCA.
