 Lica Colwell - Special Counsel, Intellectual Property Group - Charleston, SC In 2004 I left a successful medical malpractice litigation practice in Toledo, Ohio, and joined Nexsen Pruet's Intellectual Property group. The move was prompted by my husband's relocation to accept new employment, but my career change has proved to be just as beneficial.
The members of Nexsen Pruet have provided steady guidance as I have changed the focus of my primary practice area from civil litigation to intellectual property.
Even though Nexsen Pruet may be a "big law firm," the people who work here treat each other like family. I felt welcomed on my first day at my home office and am welcomed when at other offices as if I worked there five days a week.
On a personal note, the firm has been understanding of the challenges I face as a working parent of a young child and has provided the resources I need to do my work, even if I have to be out of the office.
