Andrew Mathias practices in the Business Litigation Group and works closely with Billy Wilkins, former Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.
Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, Mr. Mathias clerked for South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Jean H. Toal. He also has defense litigation experience in the areas of transportation and products liability.
Mr. Mathias earned his B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Clemson University and his Juris Doctor degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law. While in law school he argued a mock appeal before a panel of judges including U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts.
Mr. Mathias is active in South Carolina politics having worked on campaigns for the U.S. House of Representatives and the South Carolina Senate. He is a past member of the Legislative Advisory Committee of SC BIPEC (South Carolina Business and Industry Political Education Committee). He currently serves as Secretary for the South Carolina Supreme Court Historical Society.
