Peter Santos is an experienced business litigator who has represented mid to large sized companies in multiple business-related practice areas.  Most of his work involves matters outside of the State of North Carolina.  He spent thirteen years in practice in Pittsburgh before relocating to Charlotte for family reasons.

A significant portion of Mr. Santos' practice is devoted to the representation of a multi-national companies in certain areas of litigation. Mr.. Santos has represented defendants in toxic tort litigation throughout his career and he brings his expertise in this area to a select group of clients.  He currently serves as national counsel to a multi-national company in toxic tort litigation managing cases in approximately twenty states.  Mr. Santos and his team also serve as local counsel for several companies in similar litigation pending in North and South Carolina. 

In addition, Mr. Santos practices in the areas of commercial transactions and bankruptcy related matters.  Frequently, his practice involves technology-related issues, equipment sales and equipment financing. His commercial law and bankruptcy practices usually includes matters related to the Uniform Commercial Code. Mr. Santos has also litigated a wide variety of issues related to these practice areas in state and federal courts around the country.

Prior to joining Nexsen Pruet, LLC, Mr. Santos opened and managed the Charlotte, NC office of a Pennsylvania-based firm of 130 lawyers. 

Mr. Santos received his undergraduate degree in political science from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, PA and his J.D. from the Duquesne University School of Law, where he served on the Law Reviewthe Appellate Moot Court Team and where he received the Order of the Barristers.

  • Opened and Managed the Charlotte office of a 130 lawyer firm
  • Obtained Preliminary Injunction prohibiting competitor from hacking into his client's computer system in a "bet the company" case
  • Successfully managed the reduction of over twenty thousand toxic tort claims to less than four hundred
  • Served as Bankruptcy Counsel for a metropolitan county with a population in excess of one million.
