Christie S. Matthews practices in the business litigation group and is the director of the firm's Research and Drafting Center.

Ms. Matthews experience also includes incorporating and organizing C corporations, S corporations, LLC's, LP's, and non-profits; advising non-profits on 501(c) (3) compliance; drafting wills and trusts involving multi-million-dollar estates; and representing large estates in the probate process.

She teaches business law at Strayer University in Charlotte and at the University of Phoenix South Charlotte campus, where she teaches MBA candidates. Ms. Matthews is a former adjunct professor of international business law at Central Piedmont Community College in Charlotte.

Ms. Matthews earned her bachelor's degree, summa cum laude, from North Carolina Central University in Durham, N.C., where she was valedictorian, and her J.D. from the Yale Law School, where she served on the editorial board of the Yale Law and Policy Review.

As an undergraduate, she interned in the office of the Second Lady, Tipper Gore and the U.S. Department of Commerce, both in Washington, DC. She also interned in the homicide unit of the Mecklenburg County District Attorney's Office in Charlotte.
