Edward M. Hughes specializes in business law, land use law, real estate development, interstate land sales, banking and creditor's rights and commercial and residential transactions.
Mr. Hughes has been involved in several large real estate developments in the
Beaufort
County and
Jasper
County areas, including Hilton Head Plantation, Indigo Run Plantation, Wexford Plantation, Port Royal Plantation and Shipyard Plantation. Most recently, Mr. Hughes was involved in the acquisition and development of Palmetto Bluff, a 20,000 acre development in southern Beaufort County, South Carolina and the 5,500 acre Hardeeville Tract, in Jasper County, South Carolina.
He has also been involved in the acquisition and development of several projects in other areas of the country, including Seven Falls in Hendersonville, North Carolina; Aspen Glen and Coryell Ranch in Carbondale, Colorado; Sagamore in Indianapolis, Indiana; Rose Creek in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; The Traditions Club (Texas A&M) in College Station/Bryan, Texas; and The Georgia Tech Club in Atlanta, Georgia.
Since 2008, Mr. Hughes has served as the Leader of the Real Estate Practice Group for the firm. The Real Estate Practice Group currently consists of 27 attorneys and 11 paralegals.
