Dr. Joseph T. Guy is a Patent Agent practicing primarily in the Intellectual Property, Alternative Energy and Innovation practice groups. He has extensive experience in the preparation and prosecution of patents in complex technologies related to advanced materials, electrical components and the computer arts.

After completing his Ph.D. in physical inorganic chemistry, he was awarded a fellowship for post-doctoral research at the Naval Research Laboratories in Washington, DC.  During his academic tenure, he authored many publications in the areas of theoretical analysis, novel chemical structural materials, precursors to nano-scale conductive particles and the fabrication of high temperature superconductive materials.

As a research chemist for the Medical Products Division of E.I. duPont de Nemours & Co. in Brevard, NC he developed medical products prior to ascending to a position of Intellectual Property Manager. Upon divestiture of the Medical Products Division to Sterling Diagnostic Imaging, Inc. Dr. Guy was appointed Global Intellectual Property Manager responsible for all aspects of managing a world-wide intellectual property estate including technical oversight, patent application preparation and prosecution, IP license negotiations and due diligence reviews in support of mergers and acquisitions.

Dr. Guy represents a diverse and growing client base including companies focused on alternative energy technologies, advanced material research, pharmaceuticals and advanced medical products. Through a merger of technical, management and intellectual property experience, he is able to council clients through the efficient development of a comprehensive IP portfolio tailored to augment corporate strategies.
