Robert M. Anderson is a member of Nexsen Pruet’s Tax Practice Group and is an estate planning attorney and a tax attorney at the firm's Charleston, South Carolina office.

As an estate planning lawyer at Nexsen Pruet’s Charleston office, Mr. Anderson’s practice consists of a wide variety of estate plans from the drafting of simple wills to planning for more complicated estates, which include the use of various complex trusts.  His practice as an estate planning attorney also includes wealth transfer planning that, in large part, consists of business succession planning.

Mr. Anderson’s practice as a tax lawyer in the Charleston office consists of work in various types of tax law.  Primarily, his tax law practice consists of business tax planning for federal taxation as well as state and local taxation.  His practice as a tax attorney also incorporates tax controversy and tax-exempt organizations.

He also has a limited practice as a corporate attorney, incorporating limited partnerships, limited liability companies, closely held corporations, and corporations as a part of his broader practice as an estate planning lawyer and tax lawyer. 

Mr. Anderson earned his undergraduate degree in political science, magna cum laude, from Furman University, where he was also a member of Phi Beta Kappa.  He earned his law degree, summa cum laude, from the Charleston School of Law where he graduated as salutatorian.  Additionally, he earned a Masters of Laws degree (LL.M) in taxation from the Georgetown University Law Center.

During his time at the Charleston School of Law, Mr. Anderson received various CALI Excellence for Future Awards in Legal Research and Writing I, Civil Procedure II, Business Associations, Evidence, Constitutional Law, Criminal Procedure, Insurance, and Law of the European Union.  Also, he was a member of the Charleston Law Review and Tax Law Society.

Mr. Anderson lives in Charleston.  When he is not working he enjoys traveling, University of Georgia and Clemson University football, offshore fishing, and brushing up on his Spanish.
