Laurie Becker practices in the areas of corporate law, creditor rights and bankruptcy, commercial lending, public finance, and economic development.
Ms. Becker works with both lenders and borrowers in all facets of a loan transaction - from negotiation of the original loan facilities, to refinancings and workout and forbearance agreements, to complex business reorganization plans in the bankruptcy context. She often is called upon by colleagues and clients to advise on UCC issues ranging from Article 2 Sales to Article 9 Secured Transactions.
Ms. Becker holds a B.A. Degree, cum laude, in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Grove City College in Pennsylvania. She received her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of South Carolina where she was the Associate Editor in Chief of the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the National Moot Court Team, the Order of the Barristers, the Order of the Wig and Robe, and the Order of the Coif.
Since 2003, Ms. Becker has volunteered her service as legal counsel for the South Carolina Lions Charitable Services organization. This statewide charitable group serves approximately 6,000 members. The organization provides financial support for various causes, notably services for the blind and sight impaired, as well as supporting mobile health screening units and hearing aid banks for citizens who are not eligible to receive assistance from other social agencies.
