Rick Reames III is a member of Nexsen Pruet's Tax Practice Group and focuses on state and local taxation (SALT), federal taxation, and tax-driven trusts and estates planning and administration.
Mr. Reames regularly advises and represents individuals and businesses on all types of state and local taxes, including property taxes, sales and use taxes, excise taxes, and license fees, and has significant experience practicing before the South Carolina Department of Revenue.
Mr. Reames frequently represents his clients before the Internal Revenue Service and frequently handles contested federal tax matters.
In addition, Mr. Reames also represents individuals and businesses in tax-driven estate planning and administration, and frequently advises both beneficiaries and fiduciaries regarding probate and trust laws.
A former Chairman of the South Carolina Bar Association Tax Section, Mr. Reames received a B.A. degree in Business Economics from Wofford College. He earned a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law where he was a member of the South Carolina Law Review and a member of the Order of the Wig and Robe. Mr. Reames earned an L.L.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law.
